Scholarships

The Foundation will continue to support disadvantaged individuals through scholarships, and has recently established a scholarship through Wilto Yerlo to support an Indigenous Anangu Pitjatanjara Lands person studying at the University of Adelaide. We are also investigating the possibility of establishing a visual arts scholarship for a recent refugee immigrant.

If you would like to make a contribution to this scholarship, please contact the Foundation on (08) 83033364 or dunstan.foundation@adelaide.edu.au.

Don Dunstan Indigenous Anangu Pitjanjatjara Scholarship

Sandra LewisWe are pleased to have established a new scholarship with Wilto Yerlo at the University of Adelaide. The Indigenous Anangu Pitjanjatjara Scholarship will provide financial assistance to a student studying through the program, University of Adelaide. Don Dunstan was an early and vigorous champion of Aboriginal land rights, including the AP Lands. Ms Sandra Lewis from the Anangu Pitjanjatjara Lands has been selected to receive the scholarship in 2005. Ms Lewis is undertaking an undergraduate course at Wilto Yerlo, the University of Adelaide. Read Sandra's story here.

The Smith Family "Learning for Life" Scholarship

The Foundation continues to fund an undergraduate student through this program. The scheme is designed to provide access to tertiary and post-secondary education for economically disadvantaged students in South Australia, as well as a mentoring scheme to assist them with their study progress.

The cost to sponsor one undergraduate tertiary or further education student is $2,000 per year, with a total commitment of $6,000 for three-year ordinary degree

PhD Scholarships

Thanks to a generous grant from the Government of South Australia, the Foundation was able to fund two, one off PhD scholarships. Currently, the Foundation is not in a position to provide further such funds, as the annual stipend for a full-time PhD scholar is approximately $20,000, making the commitment for a three-year scholarship in the order of $60,000.
