Topic: The Global Financial Crisis is far from over!!

Common threads in the theoretical and empirical work of the minority of economists who predicted and warned of the Global Financial Crisis involved the distinction between financial wealth and real assets. Their work embodied a concern with debt as the counterpart of financial wealth, together with a further concern that growth in financial wealth and the attendand growth in debt can become a determinant (instead of an outcome) of economic growth. The recessionary impact of the bursting of asset bubbles, and emphasis on the role of credit cycles in the business cycle, leads to a long-term view on credit cycles. Using the same theoretical and empirical indicators, there is strong evidence that the GFC is far from over.
